Innovation expert and futurist Nicholas J. Webb receive his Doctorate Degree in Humane Letters (hon.)
Pasadena California, May 19, 2016 Innovation Expert, Inventor, Author and Futurist, Nicholas J. Webb was selected to receive his Doctorate Degree Humane Letters (Hon.) by the Western University of Health Science. Nicholas also provided the commencement address to the graduating doctors. In his commencement speech he shared with the graduates the incredible power of the combination of excellent preparation with the opportunistic environment of the future of healthcare. He shares with the graduates the fact that health care will be providing more job opportunities than any other industry between 2014 and 2024. During his commencement address he talks about the driving trends that will fuel the massive expansion within healthcare. These trends include the silver tsunami. The silver tsunami suggests that we will have over 72 million Americans over the age of 65 by the year 2020. This demographic will consume copious amounts of healthcare that will drive massive expansion. Additional trends include the chronic disease epidemic that urgently needs to be addressed leveraging new business and clinical models that will focus on wellness, prevention and better disease management. During his commencement speech Nicholas also shared with the graduates there need to understand the new healthcare ecosystem that is now the subject of tremendous consumerization. Lastly he gave the graduates a glimpse into the future of how connection architecture, digital ubiquity and the Internet of things will drive unprecedented new innovations to help manage cost while concurrently improving the quality of care.
According to Nicholas Webb we need to educate a new type of Doctor one that is truly digitally engaged, innovative and flexible to the massive changes that we will undergo over the next decade. The good news is that virtually all of these changes will help us get to a healthier state while concurrently improving the human experience of healthcare.
