Connectivity will allow us to track, measure, and validate the value of everything we do. Moreover, it will all work in real time. Here is where the Breaker power of hyperconnectivity becomes apparent. For this first time in human history, we are able to gather data from sources that we never thought possible. More valuable data means more opportunities to break current models and products. This linkage is about understanding our relevance within highly influential networks, including social networks, enterprise social networks, and all other forms of human connection to the digital grid. In short, the digital sandbox is the new medium that will create the best innovations. Wearable, implantable, and beacon technologies will literally save the healthcare industry by identifying ways to deliver care more effectively. Leaders will leverage game mechanics to incentivize behaviors that will reduce inefficiency. Ultimately, it will be used by the government and insurance companies to punish noncompliant associates. As the government giveth, the government taketh away.

Have you ever thought of yourself as a connected node? That’s what you are. The important question is, how do you optimize your opportunities to deliver value to others leveraging the almost unlimited forms of digital connectivity? Oh, I forgot to mention one thing: We are humans. When I suggest that we’re nodes, I’m not suggesting that you’re HAL from “2001: A Space Odyssey.” I’m suggesting that we can make improved human connections, utilizing the advantages of technology. The sad truth is most people never jump into the sandbox. Some think they’re too busy, others are skeptical, many are simply too scared. But the sooner you get in and mix it up, the sooner you will be able to develop the architecture necessary to grow, thrive, and prosper. (Just don’t clock anybody in the head with a pail.)
